Languages

Children at New Cangle are introduced to different languages in Early Years where they learn greetings in different languages. In KS1 there is a focus on learning French through stories at different times throughout the year.

KS2 have weekly French lessons which are based on the Kapow scheme of work, which follows the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Languages. The children are taught the following aspects: speaking and pronunciation; listening; reading and writing; grammar; and intercultural understanding.

French is led by Ms Brading, who is a languages specialist and can speak French, Spanish, Indonesian and some German, Italian and Thai!
