What is the Sports Premium?
The government is providing £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 which will enable substantial new funding for primary school sport. The money goes to primary school Head Teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all children. In 2017-2018 financial year the school will receive £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil (yrs 1 -6). Schools must spend funding on improving their provision of PE and Sport.
In order too ensure these improvements are sustainable we will be investing in whole school staff training, developing teachers skills and confidence in delivering PE. We have ensured the PE Co-ordinator has attended numerous training events upskilling herself and disseminating.
In 2017-18 we purchased sports equipment (which will last for years)we hope this will engage pupils in lessons and sports (hockey sticks, goals, basketball hoops, badminton posts). We are using the grant to try to get our children more active e.g Dellar Sports run lunchtime clubs, various agencies run after school clubs and we run our own lunchtime sports club. Looking to the future we hope to create changing rooms for pupils.
