In 1989 the New Cangle school opened in its present site replacing the previous Cangle school which had been housed in a Victorian building close to the town centre. At one time this had been the only school in the town.
The new school is housed in a purpose built building designed for today’s primary curriculum with spacious outside play facilities including a dedicated Early Years area. The recent addition of three modular classrooms has allowed the school to expand with the reorganisation of schooling in Suffolk from a three to a two tier system. Pupils now continue their primary education through to age 11 at New Cangle.
The outside area has been developed recently to include a wild life and pond area, gardening facilities and further outside classroom space.
We are a partner school with University of Cambridge Faculty of Education and teaching students undertake their practical teaching experience with us.
For the purpose of increasing the quality of the education we provide for the pupils, we belong to the Suffolk Borders Alliance. This enables us to share resources and expertise, provide the pupils with opportunities which may not have otherwise been available to us and enhance our staff training programme.
Parents play an important role at New Cangle through the support they give their children with home learning but also through The Friends of New Cangle which is active in fundraising and putting on events for the children. The Parent Council also organise events which enable families to met and socialise.
Many of our visitors comment about the warm and caring atmosphere and how polite and engaged the children are. Why not visit us and see for yourself?
